For nearly two years, Nick (physiotherapist), Rob (runner and run specialty shop owner), and Larry (tech entrepreneur)—the co-founders of RunReady, a running health brand—have been working to transform how people experience running. Their goal is simple: help runners move better, stay healthier, and enjoy every step.
RunReady developed the RunReady Performance Program (RRPP) with one focus: the runner. Built on years of insights from runners and footwear brands, this new service is designed to help runners move comfortably, perform better, and stay injury-free.
The result? A program built by people who understand movement health, runners and footwear—practical, clear, and built for everyone. With the Performance Program launching exclusively at the RunReady Studio inside RunAsYouAre, they're excited to share it with the running community they've worked so hard to support.
Co-founder Nick Lo shares their journey, their vision, and how everything was built from the ground up with runners in mind.
Can you tell us about yourself and your background as a physiotherapist and runner?
I've been a physiotherapist for 19 years, mainly in sports and orthopedics. Over time, I focused more on running, especially movement patterns and gait biomechanics. I saw how improving how people walk and run leads to better movement overall. Gait is foundational to unlocking a person's full potential.
What made you start running, and what keeps you hooked on it?
I started running in 2012 after I stopped playing basketball. Running was simple, freeing, and a way to push myself. If I miss a run, I feel off, but every morning run challenges me and clears my mind.
Why did you start RunReady, and what is its mission?
We started RunReady to help runners move better and run healthier. Our mission is to combine movement science, footwear expertise, and technology into one simple system that supports runners of all levels. RunReady developed the RunReady Performance Program as part of this mission.
What problem did you see in the running world that inspired RunReady to create this service?
We saw runners bouncing between physiotherapists, run shops, and apps—without a clear solution tying everything together. No one connected movement assessment, footwear expertise, and personalized exercises into one system. That's why we created Performance Program.
“We started RunReady to help runners move better and run healthier.”
You and your co-founders, Rob and Larry, each bring unique strengths to the table. How did those strengths shape the creation of the RunReady Performance Program?
It came from our combined expertise: my experience in movement health as a physiotherapist, Rob's deep knowledge from running and starting Van Run Co., and Larry's background as a tech entrepreneur. Together, we built a complete system with three simple steps designed to help you move better and stay injury-free:
- Assess your movement with a physiotherapist.
- Match you with the right footwear using our expert grading system.
- Prescribe personalized exercises to help you run stronger and healthier.
After the assessment, every runner gets a
Performance Score, which helps them understand where they stand, and a
Performance Blueprint, a personalized plan that outlines their exercises and footwear recommendations. Everything is designed to be simple, easy to follow, and tailored to how you move—so you can run with confidence, not uncertainty.
What makes this service different?
Beyond the three steps, what really sets RunReady apart is how it connects physiotherapists, footwear specialists, and technology in one place. Instead of piecing together advice from different sources, runners get everything they need in a single, connected experience.
But it's not just about convenience. Too many runners accept pain, discomfort, and injuries as part of the deal. They push through, stop when it hurts, or give up entirely. It shouldn't have to be that way. RunReady is built to change that by helping people run healthier—not harder.
“RunReady brings together physiotherapists, footwear specialists, and technology in one seamless system.”
When is it launching?
It's launching soon. We're just days away. We've been developing this for more than two years, gathering feedback and insights from runners and footwear brands to make it as effective and useful as possible. We're excited to finally share it exclusively at RunReady Studio inside the RunAsYouAre shop in Vancouver, because we've built this from the ground up with runners in mind.
After the Performance Program launches, what are the bigger plans?
Right now, we're focused on helping runners locally—improving movement, preventing injuries, and making running feel better. But the bigger vision is to inspire more people worldwide to start running and give them a healthier, more supportive way to do it.
Running isn't supposed to break you down. It's meant to build you up.
